How does Priligy (dapoxetine) work?

Priligy (dapoxetine) is a drug that belongs to a class of medications known as SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), which impact the ejaculation process. Dapoxetine is a fast acting SSRI, unlike many SSRIs, which release their active ingredients far slower than Dapoxetine, which usually gives these types of medication anti-depressive properties. By releasing its active ingredient over a shorter period, Dapoxetine has shown to be particularly helpful in treating premature ejaculation problems in men. Dapoxetine works by inhibiting neuronal reuptake of serotonin and increases its activity and has a short half life.

Is Priligy (dapoxetine) effective?

Dapoxetine data clearly indicates that men taking dapoxetine for the treatment of premature ejaculation experienced significant improvements in sexual function, as well as in ejaculatory control, satisfaction with sexual intercourse for men and their partners, and increases in IELT (intravaginal ejaculatory latency time).

Who can take Priligy (dapoxetine)?

Priligy (dapoxetine) is a prescription only medication. It should be taken if you do not have control over ejaculation and ejaculate within 2 minutes of initiating sexual intercourse. This condition can affect a man's confidence, relationships and can cause distress for their sexual partner too. Mostly, this problem does not need a treatment, but if the problem persists, treatment with dapoxetine may be desirable. Dapoxetine is used on demand and is not for long term use and is available in tablet form in dosages of 30 mg and 60 mg.

What are the Side Effects of Priligy (dapoxetine)?

The most common side effects of Dapoxetine are headaches and nausea. Other possible side effects include dizziness, insomnia and diarrhoea. Even though Dapoxetine belongs to the same drug category as some anti-depressants, it is short acting and does not have anti-depressive properties. Dapoxetine can sometimes cause a drop in blood pressure if you stand up too quickly and this can cause people to faint in some instances. It is therefore important not to stand up too quickly while taking dapoxetine.

A more detailed list of side effects is available in our pre-purchase guidance that is available if you are approved to make a purchase of Priligy.

Does Priligy React with other Medicines?

Priligy (dapoxetine) can affect the way that some other medicines work and, by the same token, other medicines can affect the way that Priligy works so you must make a full disclosure to our doctors about any medications that you are taking or have recently stopped taking. This includes over the counter remedies.

Can I take Priligy with Viagra, Cialis or Levitra?

It is possible to take Priligy (dapoxetine) with Viagra, Cialis or Levitra but you must exercise special care in doing so. The combination of one of these medications with Priligy can cause a drop in blood pressure, which can lead you to feel faint so please make sure that you do not operate machinery or drive while taking this combination of medications. Until you appreciate how your body might react, we recommend take you only take any of these medicines in combination with Priligy in an environment where you are able to lie down if you feel faint.

How do I take Priligy (dapoxetine)?

You should take Priligy with a full glass of water between 1 and 3 hours before sexual activity. You can take Priligy with or without food. You should swallow the tablets whole as this will reduce your chances of fainting, caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure.

Can I take Priligy with alcohol?

We do not recommend that you combine Priligy with alcohol as this can lead to you feeling dizzy or having slow reactions to events and thus taking the two together can be hazardous. Drinking alcohol with Priligy can increase the possibility of fainting or experiencing some other side effects.
