Is Xenical any good?

I found xenical really helpful. I lost about 3 stone but it does not happen overnight. If you are committed then it works. Also, don't worry about what people say about side effects; if you watch what you eat then you will be ok.

Margie23 is absolutely right. Xenical requires some commitment and we expect patients to be on a mildly hypocalorific diet where no more than 30% of calories are derived from fat in any given meal. Patients who stick to the diet and take the medication as directed will lose weight. If you need any advice then we are here.

I've just started xenical and hope that it will help. However, I'm convinced that in the long run weight loss can only ever be achieved by a reduced intake of food. For many people this means they need to take something that will help suppress appetite as part of a dietary/exercise regime. There is a new pill called lorcaserin which has been approved in the U.S. and is said to work really well but it is not yet available in the UK. Once this (or any similar appetite suppresants) are available I shall certainly try them!

Hi Freddy J69,

I totally agree with you: lowering the intake of food is the only way, along with increasing the amount of exercise. However, I've done this for a month without much success. I've just started xenical and it feels like my efforts are being rewarded more. Let's see what happens and hope for the best!
